Actually, what was stated by John Lenon was that "We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first, rock 'n' roll or Christianity." That of course caused the southern US to hold anti-Beatle rallies and album/ paraphernalia burnings. The "Clapton is God " reference is when the phrase was photographed spray painted on a wall at Islington Tube Station, London, England. Hope this helps. Totally off topic. Sorry. Derekwpg
