POET Technologies Project Manager

Job Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for creating project plans, setting baseline schedules, and tracking projects to completion as part of a small R&D team working on III-V compound semiconductor opto-electronic technology. Key to success will be optimizing resource utilization tradeoffs with risk management and breadth of tasks in a dynamic learning environment to obtain maximum progress and meet schedule commitments.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
• lead the planning and implementation of project and develop full scale project plans
• assemble and coordinate project staff
• manage project budget
• manage project resource allocation, assist team with external resource management
• set project baseline
• closely track progress against baseline schedule
• drive to closure on tasks
• provide direction and support to project team
• monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
• implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project objectives and meet schedule commitments
• project evaluations and assessment of results

Education and Experience

• 5-10 yrs experience in Semiconductor R&D Project Management
• III-V Technology knowledge would be an asset
• qualification in project management or equivalent
• PMP Credentials a plus
• knowledge of project management techniques and tools
• direct work experience in project management capacity
• proven experience in people management
• proficient in project management software
