Fairchilds note about "they will have no choice but to adopt" triggered a thought about a best seller I read last year ...Michael Lewis best seller. "Flash Boys". In Stealth mode a New company "Spread Networks" recognized a new mental model that a straight fiber optics land line could get the orders filled mil-seconds faster than others using the conventional lines between Chicago and New Jersey .... Effectively putting their orders at the front of the line... They built the service.. Then the fun.. They like Poet through Netscape CEO afforded the new company access to all the major CEOs. There was schock and disbelief .. Indeed one CEO asked to have picture of the new fiber optics line that was about to go live..how did upstart build the line in stealth mode without the major players getting wind of the disruptive tecnologhy? some got angry...but soon they recognized.. They had to get on the train or miss the window. They paid the large upfront fees and signed the five year contract ...one CEO was so angry that his Board felt it best if he was not on the negotiating team when meeting with the new firm. Sounds like Intel in our case? Recognizing the value one of the large brokerage firms asked if the new company could increase yes increases it's up front end fees.. The hope being that the small brokerage houses might be cut out... In any event many parallels between the launch of POET and the firm in question. Like all, I sense we are just about there... Tpower
