Fairchij: POET's importance to make a difference cannot be overstated when considering that the ultimate near term solution to the planets health is the build out of nuclear and Rainer can tell you how much those cost to build.

Well, I don't have numbers at hand, but building new nuclear as a clean option to replace coal and gas will be much, much cheaper than mitigation of air pollution and climate change – not to mention deaths and personal tragedies that can be avoided using nuclear.

Advanced reactors will come with inherent safety ("walk-away safety") making active safety components superfluous and thus reducing the price tag. Next Friday is the 29th anniversary of the famous experiment showing that inherent safety is possible. More: Passively safe reactors rely on nature to keep them cool.

And I am looking forward to the day people and the ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection) eventually recognize and admit that the LNT (Linear No-Threshold) theory isn't valid and nobody should be scared anymore of low doses of radiation!

Sorry for being off-topic, although I could claim POET chips will play some role in nuclear power plant control systems. On the other hand, saving energy in chips shouldn't be that issue in an NPP. Okay, I'm shutting up now.
