Dear Oldgreg,
Your concern raises an interesting possible scenario of exclusivity.
PC has clearly stated the opportunity of a company obtaining xclusivity, but at a price. Bearing in mind that the product in question is PET and that exclusivity in contractual form would be time limited in some way. in all probability, is this not such a bad thing. It would demonstrate to all potential markets through an early adopter the paradigm shift of a new IC GaAs technology and that all is well with the concept of Moore 's law. Then , just when the Power of Pet is being realised along comes POET. Then the world really changes.
Some time is needed to hone POET into shape. What better way of preparing for the future POET market than allowing APPLE some shock and awe tactics whilst they Blitz Krieg the the low hanging fruit market for a year before we sell the wonder weapon to a world market desperate to find a miracle weapon to defend themselves against a superpower.
There is in my mind definable strategic long term benefits in exclusivity at this stage.
'tomorrow the word'
lots of love,
Uncle sula
