I would say that such ads are purchased in advance by some time, and they have already paid for the slots for any ads that haven't run yet, so why not let them run? They are building a story, a narrative, and there's no reason to leave out the last sign in the Burma Shave sequence (if you are old enough to get my reference).

Why not gild the lily?
