I'm not a corporate lawyer but my understanding at least in the UK is that if a company receives a bid they have to announce to promptly to the market. They don't have the luxury of holding back the news until a time that suits them as this creates an unfair market. There are strict rules about the timing of announcements of key information to keep an orderly market.

Therefore if there was a bid then it would have been announced. There are undubtedly things going on, hopefully positive, but not a bid just yet- imho.
