....you will ask ?
It is easy!
The R&D in Europe especially in Germany is outstanding and excellent! Why ?
BAE needs high quality GaAs Wafer and Germany has the only one manufacturer of 200mm GaAs Wafers which belongs to Federmanns Inc. which belongs to Elbit Systems!

August 31, 1995: Freiberger Compound Materials GmbH, by Federmann Enterprises, Ltd. Here the GaAs activities of FEW were continued with 81 employees. This was the first major investment of an Israeli company in East German industry.
Only a couple of days after signing the purchase contract, Yekutil Federmann, founder of Federmann Enterprises Ltd., laid the cornerstone for the new home of the company. Yekutil Federmann was born and raised in Chemnitz (about 40 km from Freiberg). In 1938, he fled Germany to escape the Nazis. He returned after 60 years and remembered his school days, when he played football in Freiberg.
2000
In spring 2000, the cornerstone for Fab2 was laid. By this year, Freiberger had attained a 20% market share worldwide. Also in 2000, FCM demonstrated the both the first 150mm diameter VGF crystal and the first 200mm diameter LEC crystal.
2002
Freiberger manufactured the first 200mm diameter SI GaAs VGF wafer in 2002. New VGF technology and wire sawing technology were placed into production.
2010
In an effort to both reduce costs, and to become a more “green” manufacturer, Freiberger placed a power cogeneration plant into operation. This plant currently produces about 50% of the power needed for the FCM fab. The overall efficiency of the plant is over 90%.
2013
Increases in both total market and market share again caused Freiberger to reach the maximum capacity of the plant. A major expansion of the cleanroom resulted in a large increase in overall capacity.
