Question about the use of a Short position.

I'm a bit naive when I hear/read discussion about hedging investments. A post on the short position as of Feb 28 showed a slight increase in the short count. Do anyone think this was in preparation for the effects of selling to cover warrant buying? In other words, would SI (or could) he, enter in a short position knowing that exercising warrants would drive the stock down. Thanks in advance.

PS Interesting to see what the short position is now. Should be out soon if someone can post?
