Doesn't seem odd to me. The prospective CEO/COO/CXX would sign an NDA. Of course they need far more (and very different as well) info than you or I do. They are looking at a life change/career change. They are going to ask lots of questions and you can't say "Sorry that information is not public yet..."

Insiders inevitably know more than outsiders and that is why there are insider trading rules.
