Back in the mid 80"s Microsoft held there initial public offering. This was at a time when a lot of people didn't have the slightest inkling of what a PC was and for the few who did, they certainly couldn't have predicted where this coming phenomenon would end up.
Flash ahead 30 year's and we find out that Microsoft has created 3 billionaires and more than 12,000 millionaires. What a lot of us overlook is the fact that most of these people were Microsoft employees who were given a choice, they could accept a Christmas bonus or they could receive company stock options. Judging by the amount of wealth that was created I think its safe to say the majority chose plan B!
So here we sit in early May of 2015. We hold share's in a penny stock that has an incredible upside and its name is Poet. We have access to information about our investment through web pages, forums and news articles on the internet 24 hours a day with the simple click of a button. Our company has very few emplyees and it operates out of a university that isn't known in academic circles for its engineering prowess.
But this time it's different, this time were going to see the little guy get ahead, and he's going to do it with a front row seat from every region of Canada, the USA, the UK, the rest of mainland Europe, Austrailia and a host of other places around the globe. All thanks to the information age and a will to self educate, build relationships with other like-minded individuals and take risks.
Now you can call me overly optimistic, crazy or whatever you like, but I'm willing to bet years down the road that Poet will also have created thousands of millionaires and more than 3 billionaires, and some of them won't be insiders!
