No need to slant stuff, Rainer, I think the meaning is plain, the company anticipated being able to announce the new CEO in May. For all the reasons discussed, it "may" not happen in May. Nothing sinister at all. Can't please everybody; if PC had originally said July, some people would have said that's too long.
And I don't believe the PR's or the words of PC are chosen quite that carefully; it's not like the FED Chair speaking or writing.
