The market is always right in the sense that there's no consolation for having a bad trade- so I try to read the charts and incorporate as much of it into my decisions.
Fundamentals are extremely important, but stocks trade a lot on exuberance and a "follow the heard mentaility"- eventually leading to bubbles and extreme oversold buying opportunities. What's exciting about POET's potential is just that... If milestones are met and the stock gains momentum, we will see this run. The charts will clearly reflect that as volume will begin to go from 400K shares a day to 700K shares - to maybe 7 million shares a day... Being in Poet at this point is early, but the market isn't signaling a buying opportunity at this point. Reaching a milestone and monetizing would be significant. The risk of not being in POET is waking up to one of these NR's and seeing it GAP up 50%... that's why we're all in it and discounting the risk that's very much there.
