For people concerned about FD-SOI, look into our CEO's past.
Suresh has been advocating FD-SOI since 2003, even being on the FD-SOI consortium and has FD-SOI patents. Just go look at his latest presentation for GF.
What did Suresh see behind the curtain at POET?
FD-SOI GaAs is a path being considered by foundries as well. Not sure if it's POET's path at the moment, but very well could be.
But do note that Suresh was and maybe still is one of the biggest proponents of FD-SOI in the semi-conductor industry, for some reason he joined POET.
FD-SOI is a great achievement for current nodes, that will extend mores law to some extent, but it's not cheap, it's not fully integrated, it's not optical, it's not quantum computing, it can't be done in old foundries and the CAPEX isn't comparable to POET.
