USPTO has 318 total entries for a trademark that includes "POET", 135 of them are live.

for the live ones ... this one and this one are ours.

registrations 3664852, 3791863, 3583789, 3502233, 3528015, 3431939, 3603003, 3565063,
3603001, 3558032, 3502231, 3583775, 3502198, 3531513, 3436774, 3602982, 3591747,
3606411, 3591746, 3505795 which deal with animal feed, grain processing, ethanol distillation, and the like are assigned to POET Research, Inc., 4615 N. Lewis Av., Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA, 57104.

since they are in entirely different fields of commerce, and therefore unrelated, there is no conflict.

in the technology space, there is one listed for IBM, which deals with alphanumeric paging, fax, and voice processing to enable remote access to host computers, one for a database company in Germany, and one for company that makes blood gas pulse oximeters in Wisconsin.

even though Mercury Systems appears to claim that their Protocol Offload Engine Technology (POET) is their trademark, I can find no live (nor dead) trademark registration to lend evidence to any such claim in fact.

I wouldn't worry too much about Mercury Systems, IBM, or the others. POET Technologies appears to be well taken care of in the trademark department.

GLAL,

R.
