Fairchij: If the stock drops lower as a result of you convincing others to sell then you will have provided yourself with an opportunity to buy back at a lower price. How can this not be self-serving?
This could as well be said about positive statements convincing others to buy, creating an opportunity to sell at a higher price.
I think as long as it is clear what the foundation of a statement is, i.e. a recent news release or technical analysis, it is okay to make such a statement. Whoever considers to buy or to sell should be able to see the whole picture, to take all considerations into account. And like it or not, technical analysis considerations are a fact and influence people's decisions, however you value such decisions. In my opinion it is better to discuss such considerations here openly than to behave as if they didn't exist or didn't matter.
