Ahasja, I don't share your concerns. There's nothing objectionable in such an endeavor. And if we discuss it here, it is already on the Internet. :-)

I don't believe crowdfunding could be done outside the Internet. Okay, funding would be possible if a few people spent a rather large amout of money, but not if many people are supposed to contribute small amounts.

Kickstarter would also make everything easy for contributers and contributee.
