well, as I remember the rules, and I admit it's pretty fuzzy, but current net worth minus net worth prior to ye-olde I-Do equals the property value gain during marriage, and that's the basis of equalization payments (at least in Ontario). similar thing with spousal support (child support is trickier).

so, look on the bright side, as XYL she might end up having to pay you, OM.
