First of all, we're talking about nm (nanometers).
Nanometers (nm) = 0.000001 millimeters (mm)
Secondly, as it's been explained multiple times on here, the 100nm to 40nm reduction is one feat. The VCSEL is another and POET is targeting and (has achieved?) 50 GHz. Not nm. You guys aren't using the correct units.
Existing ones are at 25 GHz I believe and contain many more individual components to put together the VCSEL. Poet can deliver the VCSEL in one package = lower cost of goods = Cost savings.
Read the posts again from Abel and FJ if you're not certain. They break it down very clearly but you need to know what they are at least talking about.
