Sorry to disagree, Dave, but PET (electronics only) has always been seen as an interim solution only until full POET (electronics + optics) comes along. This is the case now. The VCSEL transceiver has a laser (optics), a detector (optics), and some transistor circuitry (electronics). You could call the latter PET if you want.
