Abel00: My question: is the basis for this type of detector(DOES?) the same basis for POET's MWIR & LWIR detectors, or does it lead to other products possibilities other than VCSELs?

I don't know. The DOES is relatively new or at least we heard only recently about it. I would assume that what DOES, MWIR, and LWIR have in common is the optical thyristor.
