My former boss was an UNK-UNK strategist. Take a 4 square box and lable the top as your company and the side as the competition.
1) The top left box is known to you and the competition. (balanced)
2) the top right box is unknown to you but known to the competition (their advantage)
3) the botom right box is known to you but not the competition (your advantage)
4) the UNK-UNK box - not known to you or the competition (imagine, visualize but watch out)
He would combine this with SWOT and develop risk based strategies based on his views of what was in each box.
