I happened to catch a piece of "Market Call" the other evening and they were interviewing an individual whose firm selectively invested in 'under-performing', 'out of favour' and significantly 'under-valued' stocks. I can't recall the term they used to described this form of investing but let's just call it 'unconventional'. What struck me was the comment that in addition to the various parameters within their investing model, they absolutely without reservation would not buy nor consider to buy any stock that traded on the Venture Exchange nor any other junior board.
Which brings me to my thoughts on which transaction or event will allow a POET transition to the TSX and or NASDAQ. We know that a significant number of shares are held by fellow Ag board members who are of the opinion that the future value is rather large. I know that everyone has their price but will there be sufficient supply to address the potential demand once news breaks?
We have been told that the roadshows are 'non deal' events and therefore it is reasonable to conclude they are being used to raise awareness but won't necessarily create an incentive to 'buy' due in large part to trading on a junior board. It has been stated previously by a number of members that they too have heard from many interested and potential investors that they will not buy until the company is NASDAQ listed.
So in order to uplist, a material upward move in the sp must happen but is it likely to occur from increased demand?.....not without a significant NR that provides evidence of revenue and even then, will the demand be sufficient to move the sp to the needed levels? If management is leaning on this strategy, I think it comes with a measure of risk that it won't be sufficient and thus my final thought and my opinion only.
There must be an equity play either in the form of a strategic partner injection or a new financing in conjunction with a material NR disclosing revenue streams all at valuations that remove the potential risk of the sp not surpassing NASDAQ threholds based on increased demand only.
Rather than remaining 'patient' which is a word that continues to be used excessively, I propose we change gears a little......I remain relaxed while our management team executes the game plan confident that their agenda will accomplish desired results.....and hopefully "soon"
So let's all RELAX and enjoy the season knowing that 2016 could be quite a year
best regards
