Can you see any "dots" here? They are there.
TSMC has won the entire contract for Apple's next-generation A10 chips that are expected to be featured in the iPhone 7. Have they? Don't believe everything you read, or hear. If Apple gives 100% of anything to anybody, then we have lost negotiating leverage, but for the sake of argument, let's continue to monitor that. So why take the business away from a perfectly good company called Samsung? Easy answer is because they are Korean. So what's suddenly wrong with being Korean (company, not nationality)? You on this board already know, or should know (the prime directive is to protect the baby). So now this little Canadian company seems to have a very big brother looking out for its well-being, or is it their own well-being? Does not matter. Like conjoined twins sharing a gut, as long as one is eating, and the other is doing that other part, it works, and we'll leave it at that, for now. So Why TSMC, and not GF? Good question. Right in America, non-Asian (company, not nationality), safe place to raise the baby without somebody stealing it. That was the hope, and they were trialed, but even a generous 50% yield bar being set, was sorely, and embarrassingly missed. The complexity of manufacturing these ever smaller architectures was the logic behind the blame. Don't you just hate it when uniformity, and reproducibility are the standards? Not when it's your money at stake. So now, the entire Malta expansion is dead (8.2?). All that work by Charles Schumer too. Cannot do these things because you like someone, or want to help a company. It is business, and nothing else. So now TSMC? Yes, a hard one to understand, depending upon your perspective. It is all so Chinese over there, yes? That just depends on where you are standing, but know this, there is a method to the possibly perceived madness, and all will make sense soon enough.
Thank you for the many fine messages that I have received.
To my primary attacker after my very first post:
I accept your fervent apology. Thankfully, being uncouth is not a virus, but a matter of one's upbringing. There is hope for you. You are forgiven.
To the 34 posters who piled on:
Shame on all of you for attacking a complete stranger. How extremely rude.
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
Some angels are a financial lifeline to a company. Some come bearing the product of the Malus pumila.
