My first impression:

This can kill the established SiP (Silicon Photonics)!
POET can now push the bandwith of their Blue Ocean transceivers, still for the cost of copper.
I expect that the establihed SiP-companies like Finisar will face heavy competition by POET.

So hurry up folks and sign a POET license - or you are done and someone else will eat your lunch!
