I hope you are right but something to add to this is from the last NR (2016 Jan 27 re: POET Partners with Wavetek) and "POET reported that it is encouraged by the promising initial results of its wafers sourced from its epitaxial wafer partners processed in the Wavetek facility using POET's proprietary technology, which has recently been transferred under a Nondisclosure Agreement between POET and Wavetek."

Bold is mine but notice the statement about "recently". This might imply that they have not been working together for that long, or it might also be meant to be specifically related to work with the wafers sourced from its epitaxial wafer partners, so perhaps some previous work has been done, but not with these wafers?

Just some additional information to add to your "chesnut". It may or may not shed some light on that.
