I unreservedly endorse Mackweatons analysis and eloquent prose.
The last CC diverted our attention away from what had been the Company's Strategy until Sep 15. Mack has again demonstrated that a PTI knowledge black hole appeared that sucked up all references to previous milestones/targets relating to PET/POET. Where previously the emphasis was on PET our attention at the last CC was pivoted towards VCSEL under what was called a new Operational Plan. This we should now understand was strategic and a necessary part of developing a potentially disruptive hi-tech product. Secrecy and deception (those adverts perhaps?) are all part of creating the 'shock and awe effect', to borrow a nice phrase from General Arnold Schwartzkopf.
I have long maintained an interest in determining what really happened back then and where (or if) it has all got to under the cloak of secrecy and NDA. Expressing my theories in a number of disjointed posts I call 'my particular chestnut', which were all conjecture, I sensed I was in danger of boring the board so feel grateful to Mack for illuminating the point yet again, because I feel it is from this direction that the real surprises that Eileen has promoted will emerge.
We know nothing officially other than the slow build up of a real commercial enterprise through the proof points that have recently emerged viz Anadigics, EpiWOrks, Wavetech and the Patent Office Our hope that all would be revealed at Brussels on 1-2 March 16 has proved to be a blind summit, yet again emotions have been overblown by this boards habit of getting ahead of itself and overly worked-up by formal events such as the EC and now the CS where we expected all to be revealed
I like our new CEO's approach and I think we will see on Tuesday next, yet another master-class in deception by SV in his highlighting to us the steady assured development towards VCSEL as PTI's first foray into commercialism, which lets face it, is a pretty sure bet and a very well conceived first vertical to go for. But what I feel we will not see is any revelation of the mystery of what caused the knowledge black hole of 2014 or the necessarily secretive underlying happenings of POET Technologies Inc.
How many out there believe that General Shwartzkopf in February 1991 used deception in his preparations and plans for his attack on Kuwait, or that he would not take measure so not to reveal his intentions to Saddam Hussein, or for that matter would have discussed them at an international conference before hand. The point of all this is that what is really happening in PTI has to be under a Commercial in Confidence Secret in our best interest. I like the firm hand on the tiller that SV is giving. But has anyone else wondered why AM and PC have been so quite and what they might be up to whilst SV gets on with mastering VCSEL commercalisation, are they preparing the ground for the next vertical?
The understandable expectation of being given information as shareholders does not have priority over the necessary protection of company commercial secrets, the regulators understand and allow this. But that should not stop us from speculating on what might be happening based on the few facts that do emerge or from the body of other reliable sources available to the well informed on this board/ But then the Agoracom rules quite rightly prevent this sort of speculation but that does not mean such sources cannot be a reality despite the opinion of anti speculation, facts only based movement that has taken more of a hold on the board here and spoiling the fun of being here in my view.
