I liked the volume spike, along with a move in the right direction, at the end of the day. My guess is KGBINC may not have shared his frustration with us today if that move had been first thing in the morning and held the price all day long. My guess, though, is his current feelings would have been shared sooner or later, unless...., unless that late move portends some market moving news (oh, I guess I should say specify the direction of the "moving" -that would be upwardlly moving news).
The share price is what does people in (myself included, although I don't put myself among those who have been thinking that for POET, "this was the quarter," for the last several quarters).
Most know that people here are genuinely very bullish, and we still have a little financial firepower left, witness the rise in price hours before the last CC. But most also harbor some doubts that even the finest tech minds here might just be a shade less than objective. I mean, how can you not be a fan if you're on the spectrum of "sort of understand" ranging all the way to "almost totally understand" the tech? Objectivity just has to be compromised.
So, with those little, nasty lurking doubts, what do we as humans want to see - news? Well, sure, but we've all seen how news has been welcomed by the market, in fact, we've become conditioned to it, and pretty much predicted how the stock would react to the CC. So, what do we want? We want to see validation outside of our little, but way oversized in ownership, group (and outside, of course, of the company management, which seems as excited as many of usaobut our prospects). And the evidence of that sort of outside validation - a rising share price. That's all almost anyone wants, really. When an infant is hungry, does he want to hear "news" about all the great food he'll be able to enjoy when he has teeth (assuming he could understand such stuff), or does he want mom NOW?
Having said that, and insulting at least a few of you, which is not my intention, but for which I apologize, I'm in the crowd who wants instant gratification. But, I try to understand, it's just a very old habit that started when I was a baby (or in utero?!!).
Our share price hasn't done all that poorly over the last few months, in a time where tech in general has really gotten hurt. We need the fresh money, though, the outside validation, the current fan club hasn't been able to carry the load uphill for some time now (as I posited it did during the run up to the EC Event, and a few other times).
None of this means the overall optimism is unjustified, it just means we want to see some of those famous, though ephemeral, "platinum investors" speaking through a rising share price saying, "we think you guys are really on to something here."
