Message: A Laser on Silicon - Not much details

I am sorry, but this ticks me off. Ok. Look. I don't believe this is anything new! It is a regurgitated article from over 5...yes 5, years ago! Check essentially the same article published in 2011.

https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-articles/1106/13061102-Telecommunications-Quantum-Dot-Laser-Silicon

Note the quote at the end of the two articles - exactly the same!

Even the wavelength noted in the two articles is the same. 1300nm.

From the 2011 info.

"The team's research, published in Nature Photonics journal, provides the first demonstration of an electrically driven quatum dot laser grown directly on a silicon substrate (Si) with a wavelength (1300nm) suitable for use in telecommunications."

They have released the same thing again - probably looking for some more research dollars.
