Don't be surprised if another name change is on the horizon.
The problem POET is having with their trademarks is that they have been deemed "merely descriptive" by the USPTO. This issue was addressed by the POET lawyers in a response, but the response was rejected with another "Non-final action" that was never answered.
Simply put, the POET name is what POET actually is. If Apple was a fruit vendor rather than a tech company, they couldn't trademark "Apple" for themselves or "Macintosh" for their products.
