There were rumours of a Google style buyout of Poet in 2014 leading up to the EC, as well as the usual venture and dare I say Agora hype and the fact that millions of cheap warrants were just waiting to be dumped on the run above 2.00.
The EC club event in my opinion was very premature. It unnecessarily exposed Poet to a large group of cynics who realized the company's tech was still far from commercial viability. The short position increased accordingly as millions of cheap warrants were dumped into the market.
Also, the presentation by Dr. Taylor while highly interesting to the geeks amongst us, flew over the heads of most people who attended, or watched afterwards. Certainly, potential platinum investors did not bite.
Fast forward to today, where we have proof of commercial production, and a management team with the technical and business know-how, along with a more patient and mature shareholder base and expectations have been correctly reset.
