I wish Poet could be more informative about the potential applications of the Photo IR Detector and the VCSEL. It seems to me the detector is of great interest and may be the first product to receive attention and application to a large variety of products. This website http://www.photonics.com/Category.aspx?CatID=14375 lists 27 Companies specializing in photonic IR detection. That is probably just a start, as military contractors are not listed for example. Poet's "best in class" -- by far -- announcement, has probably caused a lot of interest already, and I would think they are eager to receive samples. But we haven't heard that from Poet, so it is all speculation.

For the VCSEL, we know Poet is building the Active Optical Cable, which will incorporate the VCSEL in the ends of the cable. Are there other immediate applications for the VCSEL? The short reach cable will probably amount to only a small savings for the entire Data Centre. What comes after the VCSEL is my question?
