wake, you are correct in that the savings in power costs is huge for data centers. I used to do math on this but stopped as my numbers never came close to what POET is stating, so there must be a lot more to it. I certainly trust they know what they are talking about.

From POET's website (under Technology) "If you can save 5W of power per copper link used in this one Data Center, this could easily translate into 500,000W of saved energy or $50 million per year in saved operating expense. And that is for a single mega data center. "
