I am sorry to pick up this topic again.
First of all Jack, I completely accept your position, you trade the stock and you told us. Perfect. And I also can accept people to short a stock, even that this is not my understanding of investing and ethik. But it is absolutely OK.
What is not OK: if someone does not show his intention, and is playing games. "I am long, never sold one share, but this company is a total mess and never ..., well, we all know, we can see it here, and a lot more on SH.
Jack: "Last point if someone has the ability to get someone else to sell based on a few words on a board then the seller needs to rethink their involvement in the markets your own DD should always trump the ramblings on a board."
Sorry, please think. Let us assume only about 50% of the shareholders do their proper DD, 35% are trading on technical signals, and 5% are very suscepible to emotions. And many still will react irrational (buy or sell in panic, tade on sentiment).
Now let us remember, it takes only one flake of snow to start an avalanche. Pushers and bashers know about this, but for sure they all will deny. It is part of their game.
