It's a loose thought but one that DNWL and I were mulling over and makes sense, is that the reason for delaying VCSEL integration is not that it cannot be done but that it can be done better,  much in the way implied in FJ's quote.

Aquireing BB & Denselight must have given rise to some pretty interesting if not creative conversations and ideas amongst the newly merged brains available and the synergy of sharing each company's IP, which could easily have made an extention to the development timeline worthwhile in order to integrate the gems that emerged into the POET process.
