I have some questions to the specialists, Sula:
As you know, I am absolutely going with you concerning a potential secretive cooperation with this 40+ engineers company, and about the PET - means POET without the optics:
1. We heard that the trick to run an ultrafast low power processor would be the clock distribution, which would work - optical. This means you would need here - like in out optical transceiver for datacom, a laser, waveguids and a detector, plus the logics, right? So in fact such a processor would still be a POET, not a PET chip. But: How would you estimate the complexity of the horizontal (in plane) laser/detector compared with the VCSEL and vertical detector? Are these structures more easy to optimize and to produce?
2. The same would be interesting for the memenor chips (as long as the data is streamed in and out by light). This would also need a in plane laser, right?
3. How would a pure PET chip look like? Would it be easy to produce a PET RF-chip e.g. for wireless non optical data communication (5G)?
Many thanks for your thoughts!
