I agree Dash and also with OTR74. We really don't know what triggered the little run up but traders will take every opportunity to scoop a few pennies but those situations typically occur when there is enough room to do so. With the recent trading ranges so tight we didn't observe much movement or 'trading' opportunities that were worthwhile.
I think I understand the 'shorting' strategy to drive down the price and make their pennies but I don't quite understand how traders can manipulate a SP upwards (if they even can) to simply create the shorting opportunity hence, our speculation that a few people caught wind of some potential imminent news (material or not) and decided to jump in now and avoid missing the next bump. After all, 1.4M in volume while significant relative to normal volumes is actually miniscule in the whole scheme of things.
It is probably a reasonable assumption that management has a sincere and maybe desperate desire to have the SP higher (hopefully much higher) prior to the AGM and it is likely that they have some things very close for public disclosure and yet they are not quite over the finish line. So with that said, it wouldn't surprise me at all that news is near and this most recent surge was in fact a small group taking advantage of some bits of information on discussions, deals etc that were close but not ready for public disclosure "at this time".
