Hi all. Greetings from Cali. I am happy to report the article in the latest issue of Photonics Media about Superluminescent LEDs is very informative and you might find it interesting. Here is the link: Superluminescent LEDs Bridge the Gap I hope the link works ok for you. (After posting the link, I noticed the font went large on me). The info in the article seems to bode well for the innovative work we are doing at BB Photonics with Dr Bill Ring and Denselight. I do believe we are suppliers for Luxmux who is testing their Butterfly Detectors in the oil industry. I haven't heard results yet but they were Finalists at the SPIE Show. I hope they are doing well. Of course, we have our own butterfly detectors and a growing line of products with Superluminescent LEDs (SLEDs). SLEDs are kind middle ground between plain LEDs and Lasers and have unique characteristics that make them ideal for some applications. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as found in SLEDs is often compared to ultrasound imaging with acoustic waves being replaced by light and used in medical procedures, having higher resolution and depth of penetration. SLEDs are ideal light sources for spectrometer systems as well. Their broadband near infrared output overlaps well with the absorption spectrum of not only greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane but also with ozone gases like sulphur and nitrogen. These are very marketable aspects and I predict a good outcome in our quarterly report coming up. I plan to attend the SEMICON event in SF in July, just for fun. I hope I get to see Ajit Manocha there, the new CEO of SEMI who is hosting the event. I do believe he will be giving the Keynote address there. I might give a short report of some of the innovative tech stuff I see there. I certainly enjoyed the SPIE Event earlier this year.
Since I am into the large Font I want to thank FJ for his work researching and reporting information here. FJ is a very knowledgeable guy, we are lucky to have him. I think we have a lot to look forward to. The above are my opinions. All the best to our POET Team in Singapore and Silicon Valley and the conscientious members of our Forum. Back to my day job. Cheers Bt
