McWitty: Looks like poet has dropped the ball big time. Maybe focusing on poet and not denselight could have avoided this. Maybe placing funds appropriately to streamline the vcsel could have too.
Oh, come on, please! You know why we haven't a VCSEL yet, don't you? And even if we had, you don't know which specific requirements Apple has and whether the POET VCSEL would suit their needs. And, by the way, POET's efforts go into developing the integrated VCSEL transceiver, which is much more than the standard VCSEL you can buy at the corner, and much more than the specialized VCSEL you can by from Finisar.
Anyway, as long as the market prophets are right, there will be more than enough demand in the years to come and many, many opportunities to sell VCSELs and other photonics stuff, em, solutions.
And please don't mix up VCSEL with integrated VCSEL transceiver or optical engine!
