Suresh said at the THM that POET is going into the data room first. The data managers become happy with the cost/performance of an AOC, for instance, then you can bring aboard other products. VCSELs are commodity products, but POET can be disruptive in terms of cost and performance. So though that may not be overly exciting, I don't think that POET has deviated from their plan - get their foot in the door. Also, Denselight already had a good reputation in the I.T. space and that is another way to open the door wider.
The real excitement is in the other areas that POET is developing to broaden their pipeline, but that is more long term. Many of us are expecting too much too soon and have only been learning how long it takes for the plan to execute. The one other area where POET could make a huge disruptive splash is with an optical engine, and we know that is getting closer.
In the meantime, it's Denselight/BB Photonics products first, then merging in the POET innovations. Perhaps, POET is being conservative overall because we have already had enough hype in the past.
