Message: GaAs strategy

I'd like the input of some of the more tech minded out there about the GaAs strategy.  It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that it would stop dead in its tracks for the "mere" reason that the 4 terminal thyristor switch didn't work out, especially given that they have been working on a Bipolar FET option for at least a bit now.  Is this all about getting burned by third party GaAs foundry turnaround times and costs?  That's the only thing that makes any sense to me as a rationale.  Find a partner who can make those problems go away and get the product cycle development moving along quicker?
