Why did he sell?
This is a question I would like to illuminate.
Bill Ring is in my eyes one of the few high profile photonic gurus on board of POET now. Possibly not the class of GT, but with a very solid background and with genious IP.
For sure this IP received a boost by the addition of DL and their ability to build and test these structures. But I am sure he knew best about the market potential of his invention.
All this what now could safe the neck of POET - he gave away for a tiny 3% part of POET? So do you think he now is feeling outsmarted? Well, possibly yes. But I am sure he kicked the POET tires hard, and he realized the true potential of POET.
OK, now we know that it takes more time and a partnership to get POET done. But I regard POET still as a disruptive technology, and I am quite sure Bill does the same. At the moment POET does not give a timeline, as the partner is not nominated. But this will change.
