It's important to keep track of the tech and it's unique properties. The PoET model is an integrated (monolithic) unit that incorporates all three components based in a gallium arsenide chip with a unique epi stack. The other guys are into silicon, so they have to have interrelated components because silicon cannot lase. The PoET version of the vscel is of no use to them.

Finisar is NOT using any PoET tech in their vscel work.

The major players all have BILLIONS invested in silicon tech. The big wafer fabs are almost exclusively silicon and they have to run for years to come before they pay out.

PoET is simply going to have to be immense to alter that course, or, try another route (Indium Phosphide) They have chosen the other route option for monetary and market entry reasons.

We will know how that goes once and when they have the dielectric (mux/demux) products in the market place.
