The statement yesterday lines up with what was reported today which is that the optical interposer/dielectric is applicable to a wide range of wavelengths.
Importantly, the scalable architecture (in reach and speed) of this innovative platform has the potential to provide Poet with a highly differentiated competitive advantage in leading-edge data communication transceiver products.
Operation at 1550nm is a very important wavelength for long haul which is in the Erbium window allowing for efficient amplification to extend distances. It also has a higher margin of eye safety so think LIDAR and other such applications.
So think 1310nm for the data center and metro and 1550nm to enable much longer reach.
But what really should get investors excited is that this tech is built on 8 inch wafers or 12 inch wafers. At 8 inch we are talking 10’s of thousands of optical engines per wafer. Again testing and assembly are all at the wafer level.
