Could be warrant holders locking in profits.  But unfortunately, also sounds like a financing - short now and cover with your cheap shares when you get your portion of the offering and, of course, keep any warrants that may be a part of that offering.  

Anyway, not a good thing.   Shorters are almost always better market players than longs.
