Perhaps they are not interested is defining standards at this time, but are rather focusing on their receiver and transceiver solutions.

I believe that is very true but I would add that:

• They are not equiped to design the ASIC but will work to the standards that are established (free ride).
• They are very guarded of the dielectric and will not share detailed information with members that promote open access. Regardless of NDA.

There is of course a third. They do not work within the standard. Very larger customers (owners/operators) may have their own design.
