Very interesting and informative keynote (about 25 min) from the recent OCP2018 on the current and future state of hardware for cloud data centres. Talks about constraints and the need for standards to allow progress of the optics hardware to keep pace with the required data volumes and speeds. Includes discussion of an interposer to connect the electrics with the optics and the requirement to move to “on board optics”.
