They have identified the biggest gap as “Optical interfaces degrade performance and increase costs”. Explained…every time we have to make a connection between an optical component and a waveguide or an optical component and a fiber those interfaces are degrading performance.
We need something the same as a copper connection.
As easy to make without the alignment requirements is low cost and has low insertion loss.
It is interesting that Suresh is now really focusing on delivering a technical overview of the Optical Interposer Platform that addresses the gap that this group have identified.
