GT was pretty much unceremoniously ushered out; no one wanted to admit that, but that's sure what it looked like. He doesn't think with his knees, does he? So, my guess is there's no love lost as between current management and GT - he worked years and years on something, the company gave up the ghost on it so close to success - anyway, that's how GT would view it. Cold world, no doubt.
