In terms of Ajit coming out of retirement and spending significant time getting the toddling POET on its true feet, I don't think even the mighty Ajit would be so crass and cruel to shut any doors on a lab-proven "holy grail" technology that someone labored 30 years developing if it didn't prove immediately manufacturable and marketable.
I think he would find the right guy to run things (Suresh) and then drop back into his global-view mode and let things pan out per the plan his guy develops. Ajit will know when it's time to speak up again, and it looks like we are at that point.
POET is the one baby you never want to discard with the bathwater.
